Hello there! If you’ve stumbled upon this site, you’re probably wondering— who the f*ck is Crystal Duan?
You know, that’s a hard question for even me to answer. I don’t like labels unless for ~ official purposes ~ so I’ll just go into what I do — I alchemize your deepest pains and reshape your perspective on life, catered to the way you need to make poetry out of ego death.
I hail from Portland, but I cut my teeth on all things spirit while I was a journalism student at the University of Missouri. During that time, seeing racial injustice on campus and learning that people live in totally different realities (woah) inspired me to figure out a way to make meaning and get everyone on the same page.
My toolkit is cerebral personality systems such as the origins of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator that drew from psychotherapist Carl Jung, tarot, and astrological natal chart archetypes. I’ve been spiritually awake, formally, since 2015 but tight with the homie Jesus (but not churches or organized religion) since 2004.
I’m a nerd for making your hero’s journey feel magical and cute… but by focusing on how you need to humble yourself snd not villainize your pain, which is essential for my work. You can think of me as Death personified (like in Neil Gaiman’s Sandman series). I want to blow your mind nicely and help you ease your attachments by holding space for you AND calling you on your bullsh*t.
I seek to decolonize the Law of Attraction, manifesting, and shadow work from colonization and capitalism by demystifying what it really takes — a lot more mental capacity than you think you have. I don’t believe in victim blaming and incorporate systemic oppression and psychological limitations into my work.
All in all, you can call me your new go-to person with any existential crisis. As a child, I was called crazy. Now many say I’ve saved their lives.
My philosophy is that if you’re not living every day close to the fire of dismay, then you’ll never be able to simultaneously experience true joy.
